The early bird catches the worm, the worm at the bottom of the tequila bottle, that is! More and more restaurants are hosting happy hours at all times of day – even starting at 7am!
As you know, not everyone works 9 to 5. For a lot of people their workday ends as everyone else’s is beginning. And after a hard night of work, they want to blow off steam, just like everybody else.
So, seeing an opportunity to draw extra business, some bars and restaurants started offering early morning happy hours.
The breakfast hours are typically slow – unless you’re IHOP – so restaurants are offering morning customers happy hour deals. Like 24 Diner in Austin, Texas, they run a marathon happy hour from 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday. Murphy’s Law Tavern in Las Vegas has their happy hour from 6am to 9am and in Minneapolis at Victor’s 1969, they have happy hour from 8am to 10:30am with $4 dollar sake Bloody Mary’s and tropical mimosas.
So who’s imbibing as the day starts? According to Nation’s Restaurant News, a lot of hospital employees, coming off night shifts, factory workers, hotel employees and football fans on game days.
So what do you think of early morning Happy Hour? Is it 5 o’clock somewhere? Or a recipe for daytime drunk driving?
